Network Series 2023 Ink on paper 20 x 12.5 cm
"Network" is a series of paintings that explores the interconnectedness of our world, both in the natural and digital realms. Just as the sky, sea, land, and cities are all connected in various ways, so too are we all connected through the internet and the power of AI. The paintings feature a series of curvy lines of varying colours and thicknesses that criss-cross the surface, creating a complex interlocking web. These lines are a metaphor for the connections that exist between people, ideas, and things, both seen and unseen. Through the use of curvy lines and different colours, the paintings encourage us to contemplate the ways in which everything is connected. Just as the lines in the paintings are interconnected, so too are the natural and technological forces that shape our world. The natural world is a network of interconnected ecosystems, where the sky, sea, and land all work together to create a beautiful and vibrant planet. Similarly, our modern world is interconnected by technology, with the internet and AI creating new connections and possibilities for communication and collaboration. Despite these interconnected forces, the world can sometimes feel chaotic and disjointed. "Network" invites viewers to contemplate these connections and consider how we can work together to create a more harmonious and interconnected world. By recognizing the interdependence of all things and supporting each other, we can create a more beautiful and meaningful world for ourselves and future generations.
In 2017, I created a series of paintings titled "Interconnected World 1 & 2. and Interconnected Society." This series represents the culmination of my exploration of different environments, lifestyles, thoughts, and behaviours in our lives. To create these paintings, I used various shades of colour, shapes, textures, and sizes, each with its unique sense of vibrancy or serenity in terms of colour and balance. As I created each painting, I always thought about how everything is connected in different ways. Therefore, in each painting, you can see the intricate connection and interweaving of different shapes and colours that form a complete picture. The presence of each element affects the composition of the other elements in the overall picture. In life, everything we do seems to have a profound effect on each other. I hope this series of paintings serves as a visual reminder that we are all part of a larger system and that, by working together, we can create a better world that is more harmonious, joyful, and balanced.

In 2011, there was a presidential election with four candidates vying for the highest office. As an artist, I was inspired by this event to create a painting about the election. At the time, I was working on an origami crane still life, and I decided to incorporate this theme into the painting. The resulting artwork, titled Flight of the Brave, features four origami cranes of different colours, each representing a different character and a different set of values. The cranes are shown flying through the sky, symbolizing the determination and ambition of the candidates competing for the presidency. The orange crane represents passion and determination, embodying the drive and enthusiasm necessary to succeed in any endeavour. The blue crane represents stability and reliability, reflecting the need for a steady hand and a firm foundation in leadership. The green crane represents growth and progress, symbolizing the desire for positive change and forward momentum. Finally, the red crane represents strength and ambition, embodying the resilience and fortitude needed to overcome obstacles and achieve one's goals. Together, the four cranes in Flight of the Brave convey a powerful message of hope and inspiration. The painting encourages viewers to fly boldly toward their goals, no matter what challenges they may encounter, and to remain focused on the prize even in the face of adversity. It captures the spirit of the 2011 election and serves as a timeless reminder of the importance of courage, determination, and perseverance in achieving one's dreams.

In this draft for a painting, I started by using a simple pencil to sketch the outlines of two dancers. Their bodies are intertwined in a graceful motion, captured by quick and suggestive lines. To bring the sketch to life, I added layers of watercolour onto the paper. On the left side, a serene blue wash creates a calming backdrop for the dancers, while on the right side, a vibrant combination of cadmium red and rose red adds energy and passion to the piece. In the top centre area of the painting, a delicate wash of light orange creates a subtle warmth and glow, which contrasts with the lower area where the white of the paper is left untouched, adding a sense of depth and space to the piece. My goal is to express the essence of movement and emotion in a simple yet captivating way. I invite the viewer to imagine the dancers' movements and feel the energy and passion they convey, all through a few suggestive lines and carefully chosen colours.
