Golden shower trees can be seen along the road where Jimmy lives. In 1997, he was delighted to see them in full bloom, so he started the Golden Showers series to express emotions of joy and happiness.

There are many pagodas built all over Myanmar. Once the Venerable Sayadaw U Pandita mentioned that people should build stupas in their hearts. By practicing uninterruptedly in every moment of daily life, people thus build stupas in their hearts. Jimmy painted this series with this understanding.

Jimmy's landscape series of paintings have continued to evolve since he began.

Meditation can be done during walking and everyday activities. One day, Jimmy had the idea to paint with images of walking, and since then he has started a series of paintings of walking meditations.

1997 Victory, Acrylic on canvas, 152 x 122 cm

When Jimmy's neighbour comes to him unhappy with his life in his studio in Telok Kurau, Jimmy tries to advise him on how to live a peaceful, happy and tolerant life, he explains the compassion of the Buddha and gives an example of how the Buddha uses his compassion to subdue an angry and intoxicated elephant. Many days later, Jimmy began to create the painting.

The painting was inspired by views of Fort Canning Hill and the River Valley Swimming Pool. This painting was recorded in a coffee table edition of the art book "Singapore - Places Poems Paintings" and was exhibited at the National Museum Art Gallery in Singapore in 1993.

The rubber trees Jimmy saw around the Santisukharama Meditation Centre, where he attended his first meditation retreat, inspired this series of paintings featuring them.

This painting was exhibited in his one-man art exhibition "Spirit of Nature" in 1990.

1989 Unforgettable Beach, Acrylic on canvas, 141 x 47 cm

Jimmy creates paintings with images and colors that he invents himself, drawn from the depths of his heart. The painting was exhibited in 1991 in "All in One: 25 Years of Art in Singapore; a Touring Exhibition in the United States".

The painting earned him a Merit Award at the 1988 IBM Art Award. The painting has since been in the collection of Jimmy. Another painting that won the first prize has become part of the collection of the Singapore Art Museum.

The painting won the overall first prize of the IBM Art Award in 1988. It has been acquired by IBM and gifted to the permanent collection of the Singapore Art Museum.

At the beginning of his new artistic journey, he created figurative paintings. He is looking for his expression. This is an oil painting he created.

1985 Drawing Flag, Oil on canvas, 82 x 61 cm

One day, Jimmy learned that Brother Joseph McNally founded the St. Patrick Arts Center. Since he admired him and his work, he went to that school to study art. This is a painting he painted after learning to paint from a Western art teacher at St Patrick's Art Centre.

One of the artistic explorations of mixed media in the 80s. The painting marked his nephew's birthday. The painting received a Certificate of Commendation in The Painting of the Year Art Competition in 1983.

Sketches drawn on the canvas panel in preparation for painting. Jimmy did not continue to paint on it. During that time he worked for a design firm.

1977 Cat, Ink on paper

This is one of the Chinese paintings created by Jimmy in the 70s. He learned Chinese painting from an art teacher in Secondary school and teachers in NAFA. He continued to practice Chinese painting during that time. His work was selected for National Day Art Exhibition that year.

1974 Self Portrait, oil on canvas 24 x 18 inches

Jimmy's self-portrait in 1974. In the same year, his work "Interior" won the third prize in the Western Painting Open Group of the National Art Competition.
